Why do Companies struggle with Information Systems Implementation?
Hello again
!!!
We are back
with another exciting (😉) blog and this week we will be looking at struggles
faced by companies when implementing information systems. But what problems can
companies run into? Well, issues such as delays, productivity loss,
overspending, etc. The following points are examples of why issues arise...
Failure to Plan:
This is regularly overlooked but is a crucial step, as it can result in a loss of time
and money. For example, if training for staff wasn’t planned, the company will
have to retrain and possibly close for training days. Also, having a planned
budget makes sure there’s no overspending. Planning assures goals are reached
affordably.
Poorly
Managed: Poor management could result in staff not using the system correctly
and the loss of, or incorrect input of information. Also, when transferring
information from the old system to the new one, proper management is essential
to make sure important files are accounted for.
Resistant Employees:
Employees don’t like change. Implementing a new system can be difficult to get
your head around. It’s important that employees don’t get to the point of
resisting change and causing the company to have to get rid of the system
they’ve spent time and money on.
Support:
Tying into my last point, senior management must offer support and help to
employees working with the new system. This will help to bring down stress and
strain felt and, again, avoid resisting change.
And with
that, I’ll leave you with an example of a company that ran into trouble with
ERP. In 2019, Revlon found itself in trouble when ERP managed to cost them
millions of dollars lost in sales when it disrupted their manufacturing facility
in North Carolina.😬
Until next
time,
Saoirse😊

Really interesting post!
